They refuse to comply with the administration’s LBGT mandates.
A private Christian school in Florida is suing the Biden Administration and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, arguing the federal government is unjustly taking away school lunch funding since the school refuses to comply with LGBT mandates that go against its religious values.
Back in May. the Biden Administration redefined the term “sex” in Title IX to include gender identiy and sexual orientation, which required schools to allow transgender students to use whichever bathroom they wanted and also play sports with either sex in order to be eligible to receive school lunch funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The school, Grant Park Christian Academy in Tampa, Florida, has lost their funding so far as a result of not following the redefined “sex” in Title IX, and will not be reimbursed for meals it serves students starting in the fall semester, prompting the school to sue the administration.
Title IX offers a religious exemption, the school’s counsel, Alliance Defending Freedom, said.
“For five years, this Christian school has received funding to provide nutritious meals to dozens of low-income children in the community,” ADF legal counsel Erica Steinmiller-Perdomo noted.
“Commissioner Fried and the Biden administration are trying to rewrite the law and ignore the exemption in an attempt to force this school to choose between violating its religious beliefs or providing lunches to children.”
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody attacked the Biden administration for “using hungry children to advance a political agenda.” She is joined by more than half the state attorneys general in opposing Biden’s discriminatory policy.
