Huntington Beach residents were shocked to hear that the districts’ assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris was receiving a pay raise amidst a 5.6 cent per gallon gas tax increase which she did not vote against. According to AAA, the average American pays 2.71 cents a gallon while Californians pay 3.74. This overall 5.6 cent per gallon tax bump will take approximately 850 million out of the pockets of families, while she stands to increase her salary.
It remains to be seen when or if Democrats in Sacramento will pay any political price for increasing the cost of gas.
Yesterday the Democrats’ gas tax went up again! Assembly Republicans voted to stop the tax hike and when given the opportunity to protect her constituents @AsmCottie chose not to vote.
