A Letter from Holocaust Survivor Piri Katz

As a Holocaust survivor who has been a proud American citizen since 1950, I take voting very seriously because I love the United States of America. This is why I am supporting Michelle Steel for U.S. Congress because she’ll fight for all Orange County residents in Washington, D.C.

It is hard to believe that it has been 75 years since I was liberated by the Americans on a train leaving the death camp of Dachau. Four years earlier, on the eve of Passover, the holiday of freedom, I had my freedom ripped out from under me as I went on to the death camps of Auschwitz, Geislingen, and Dachau and watched as my parents, older married sisters and their children, younger sisters and brothers, and countless relatives and friends, gassed and burned at Auschwitz.

It is frightening for me to see the rise of anti-faith, anti-Semitism and socialism in the Democratic Party.

When this past year a swastika appeared at a nearby park in Rossmoor, my daughter contacted Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel’s office and she took immediate action. Michelle Steel has continued to monitor anti-Semitic hate crimes throughout the United States, sending letters of support and condolences to the Jewish communities of New Jersey and New York, and working hand-in-hand with Sheriff Don Barnes and District Attorney Todd Spitzer to ensure Orange County Law enforcement has the resources to combat hate crimes.

The decision of who will be our next congressperson to represent us in Congress is crucial. Michelle Steel has integrity and an inclusive agenda that stands with the Jewish people against anti-Semitism.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel for U.S. Congress.

Sincerely,

Piri Katz

Holocaust Survivor
